Meeting with Doug Waley, Eurogroup for Animals

Douglas Waley, Fish Welfare Programme Leader at the Brussels based Eurogroup for Animals visited the Institute of Aquaculture recently for an update on our aquatic animal welfare research programmes, including the Open Philanthropy funded “Improving Farmed Fish Welfare in Asia”. It was also an opportunity for us to quiz him on the latest developments within the European Commission and other institutions and how aquatic animal welfare regulations might develop over the next ten years.

“Ensuring farmed fish and crustaceans have a good life needs a lot of knowledge, about animals and about people. It’s been great to hear about so many important projects running here.”
