During October 21-24, Simão Zacarias attended the Responsible Seafood Summit in St Andrews – Scotland, United Kingdom. The event is organized by The Global Seafood Alliance. He was one of the main speakers and panellists of the session: Aquatic Animal Welfare is Everyone’s Business. Other panellists included Sara Barrento (FAI Farms), Ben Perry (Ace Aquatec) and Linda Wood (M&S). Bonnie Waycott (Responsible Seafood Advocate) was the session chair. His presentation was on “The Paths to Viable Alternatives to Shrimp Eyestalk Ablation”.

Simão finally picked up his 2020 Global Aquaculture Innovation Award at the event which he won during Covid-19 time when there were lockdowns and no in-person events were held.
