As part of our “Improving Farmed Fish Welfare in Asia” project, funded by Open Philanthropy, we launching a call for research project proposals from Thailand and Vietnam. Applications are invited from academic organisations based in Thailand or Vietnam which involve collaboration with at least one other organisation such as an NGO or commercial company. The projects should last a maximum of 6 months and can apply for a budget of up to $20,000. We are looking for projects that either explore practical means to improve aquatic animal welfare, or help provide insight into perceptions of farmed fish and communicating concepts of welfare.
There will be a series of online meetings (sandpits) to help potential applicants develop partnerships and good project plans. There is also a new LinkedIn group to discuss the project and the broader topic of fish welfare in Asia.
We are keen to establish links with aquaculture enterprises, value chain participants, regulatory agencies, NGOs and academics from any discipline with expertise and interests that could contribute to the project objectives.
