May 2017 : The Sustainable Aquaculture Group welcomed Professor Maged El Kemary from Kafr El Sheik University located in the middle of the commercial tilapia farming industry in the Nile Delta Egypt. We are working together with KES University on the Newton funded BOLTI project which is looking to develop behavioural prophylaxis related modifications into commercial tilapia pond production systems alongside use of mobile on farm diagnostic kits in order to reduce fish disease problems currently affecting most of the Egyptian tilapia farming sector. Professor Maged also visited Howietoun Fish Farms, The British Council in Edinburgh, and Ewos /Cargill Feed Mill at Bathgate. The BOLTI project also has Europharm UK and WorldFish Center Egypt as partners.
