The Sustainable Aquaculture Research Group has been recently augmented with the arrival of Dr Shui Yan, a visiting Research Fellow from the Freshwater Fisheries Research Centre, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences in Wuxi. Shui will contribute expertise in the molecular mechanisms underpinning reproductive physiology in crustaceans to our work on alternatives to eye stalk ablation in shrimp hatcheries. She will also be working with several staff in the Institute on other projects concerning aquaculture product safety and market opportunities for Chinese products in Europe. The one-year fellowship is funded by the Chinese Scholarship Council.
