Senior WorldFish Appointments Announced

Congratulations to Drs Faruk Ul Islam (Shamin)  and Benoy Barman for their recent senior appointments with Worldfish.

Shamin a Stirling PhD alum (2007) has been appointed as the new Country Representative for Bangladesh. Since his graduation from Stirling he has been active in several organisations in Bangladesh and internationally. His PhD research,

SELF-RECRUITING SPECIES (SRS) IN AQUACULTURE: THEIR ROLE IN RURAL LIVELIHOODS IN TWO AREAS OF BANGLADESH was part of a UK funded Asian regional project.

 

Benoy has been appointed  Science Lead of the Farming Practices team with an international mandate. He completed his PhD at the Asian Insitute of Technology  over twenty years ago on Nile tilapia seed production strategies.

Both Benoy and Shamin continues to collaborate with Stirling academics, most recently on a study assessing the evolution of rice field-based seed production led by Alex Pounds.
