Participation in EC Workshop on South Atlantic Cooperation

Lynne Falconer presenting the TAPAS project at the EC - South Atlantic Workshop

The Sustainable Aquaculture Research Group recently contributed to a workshop on Aquaculture & Food Security, organised under the South Atlantic Research Cooperation programme. This was organised through the European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation and held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 20th September 2016. The objective of the workshop was to reinforce cooperation in the field of aquaculture among Europe, and the Middle and Southern part of the Atlantic countries in the framework of developing the All Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance by identifying areas of common interest. Participants came from around Europe, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.

Lynne Falconer presented the TAPAS project (Coordinated by the University of Stirling) and John Bostock presented the PrimeFish project (Coordinated by MATIS). Both presentations stimulated discussion and interest in creating links around common issues and the potential for the outputs of these projects to have wider application in the South Atlantic area.
